This message was sent from: Suggestions and Proposals http://forums.oscommerce.com/viewtopic.php?p=176218#176218 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Out of curiosity, how does this correlate to the stated plan for MS3 from the Workboard:
A template structure will be implemented to make it easier to change the layout of the store. A similar structure that will be used is currently available in the tep-docs module in CVS.
It seems to me that there's a great opportunity to develop a robust templating system that not only moves the look-and-feel to a single template, but also provides different templates for different page types (e.g., one for the storefront, one for the bulk of the cart, and a very spartan template for checkout). Add to this an ability to base the store layout on user groups and/or business logic, and it would seem that you'd have a super-powerful system for referral programs (co-branded sites based on referring URL), preferred members (see certain categories of products that "regular" folks can't...), store administration (link to admin section in every header), etc. Any thoughts?
