On other forums in which I participate, I have found that it helps to have a number of volunteer moderators who have nothing to do with development.  This takes some of the burden off developers and lets them spend their time coding, and it spreads the burden of moving posts, etc.

It seems to me that a lot of people here post in the wrong forum (installation questions in General Support, requests for paid help outside the requesting commercial help section, etc.).

This is also a good way to let people who are not really interested in PHP coding support the OSC project.  The core team could ask for volunteers and use posting history to weed out those who might abuse the system.  In general, it makes sense to restrict volunteers to those who have been here for a while and made a certain number of posts.

Btw, [url=http://forums.oscommerce.com/viewtopic.php?t=43198]this thread[/url] is relevant to this one, but only tangentially (IMO).  That's why I am starting this thread.  Hopefully it will spur some discussion on this issue.
