I am working on something like this.  I'm not yet sure if I am going to do it in a general fashion and make it into a contribution, or if I am simply going to hack up a solution that works for my project.  If someone else is interested in contributing to this project, I am interested in creating an official contribution.

FWIW, I'm integrating the stores contribution into my solution.  Each seller will get her or his own store.  The big difference is that sellers will have the ability to enter their products.  I am doing this by including a new top level area:  affiliates (along with catalog and admin).  This will probably be easier once the catalog/admin merge is done...  I find myself mixing a lot of files between the two, which results in some name clashes.

P.S.  In reading your post, I'm a little unsure as to whether you are looking to pay someone to provide something like this--if so, you may want to post in the Seeking Commercial Help forum, as that is where PHP consultants will be looking.  Replies would of course be by Private Message, since commercial posting is prohibited.  Otoh, perhaps you are looking to contribute code and would like to share the duties.  Like I said, I would be interested in working on a general solution if someone else is willing to share the coding duties.
