Programmable Specials (ie. Start & End Date for Specials)

Does anyone know how difficult it would be to add a start date to the specials?

This way, we would be able to pre-program the next few months specials in one hit and it would update automatically as the dates pass, similar to the way they automatically expire, though they would activate on the start date and expire as per normal.

This would be a GREAT addition to the core CVS.

Any ideas/suggestions?
