This message was sent from: Tips and Tricks http://forums.oscommerce.com/viewtopic.php?p=207912#207912 ---------------------------------------------------------------- Fairly standard osC layout but I like how you matched the colors. They fit your site nicely. A few things.. 1. I'd remove the Languages box as you only provide the one language. 2. At the top of the page where you have the Categories the background of that right hand side is white while everything else if black. This is right above the top red bar containing the breadcrumb and "My Account | Cart Contents | Checkout". I'd suggest that if you cant change that white area to black then change the color to a white bar across the full page.. again this is right above the top red bar. 3. The joekilo.gif logo at top 'should' and typically is a link back to the mainpage. Its a larger area for users to click on then the 'Home' link. 4. Personal opinion (as all this is :D ) .. on your create_account page I would recommend installing the "Anti Robot Registration Validation" contribution. This requires a user to enter a random set of letters in order to create the account. See the description for more details. The Support Forums provides a lot of useful information. Note that the included .sql file is really buggy so dont use it. The support forum has all the updated information on the sql updates. This may have changed since I last installed it but read the forum. 5. I also suggest you add the Header Tags Controller and admin contribs by Linda McGrath and Richard Fielder. These allow you to enter page/product specific Titles, Keywords and Descriptions which is important in helping you gain better rankings in search engines. 6. Lastly.. While leaving the "Powered by osCommerce" link is great and helps promote osCommerce, I would suggest changing the "Copyright © 2003 osCommerce" to "Copyright © 2003 joekilo.com" as it is your site and content and is the reason for the copyright :-) Just a FYI.. Last night just as I was heading off to bed I clicked on something which provided me with a nice SQL error :-) Unfortunately this morning I forget :? what I clicked on. Last thing I remember looking at last night was the "The Russian" t-shirt and I clicked something after that which produced the error. It was something to do with the product_info.php or products_new.php file though. I went through and was not able to reproduce the error this morning. Hope this helps! Ohh!! And if you add any of the suggested mods I mentioned remember to BACKUP both your original files and the database! Again.. I really like the look and feel of the colors.. some of your products also! :-)
