OK, I changed the debugging line as per your instructions. Regardless of the connection type it reads: 

request type is:NONSSL

The strange thing is that when I click on the "log yourself in" link to go to the SSL page, everything but the header quickly flashes and comes up as the new page. The header doesn't appear to change or reload at all. Could this be a part of the problem.
