Using the "Highlight matches" option

I am having problems using this option successfully. Can anyone help please? When I choose (highlight matches) in the search results, the page that appears has lost all the links to its content (CSS sheets, images, links). For example, an image that has the properties... http://www.mysite.com/image.jpg becomes... http:///image.jpg. When I simply choose the link to the page without highlights then it loads OK.
