[phpOpenTracker-User] simple_report choking??

Hi, I found this email in the archives, but didn't find a response:

"I love this script, but I can’t use it anymore!

It takes about 5 minutes and doesn’t even load… I don’t know what to do,
  I can’t hog my server like this.  Does anyone have a similar problem?
  We are not HUGE but we have around 2000 visitors a day, and the DB is
  4-5 months old.  Is anyone interested in writing a plugin that somehow

I've actually run into the same problem.  Two months ago I installed 
phpOpenTracker on a running web app and started logging visits.  Now we 
have about 33,000 impressions so I decided it was time to figure out the 
API and generate some reports.

Figuring that the included simple_report would be a good place to start 
I installed and ran it.  It brings up the `access_statistics` page, but 
trying to drill any deeper appears to freeze / choke mysql.  top reveals 
that mysqld grabs about 99% of the cpu and doesn't let go even after 
I've stopped the request on my browser and the page never loads.

Any pointers?
