Speed does not refer to end-user download speed. All
of the scaled images are small enough so that any
fiddling with image size would produce a negligible
difference in download speed.

Speed refers to "thumbnailing speed"-- how long it
takes Pixory to produce a thumbnail (scaled image)
from the original. If you are using Pixory on a newish
machine (Pentium 4 1.5 GHz+), the thumbnailing might
be fast enough that you don't really notice (much) the
delay in thumbnailing. However, I run Pixory on the
equivalent of a Pentium III 450MHz, and I definitely
notice it. So I give the user some flexibility.

However:

1) With the introduction of "thumbnail precaching" and
especially "background thumbnailing", these settings
become much less important, because it is likely that
Pixory will have already thumbnailed all of the images
by the time your visitors arrive (provided, of course
that you turn background thumbnailing on). I developed
these settings before I introduced "background
thumbnailing".

2) There's actually not a very big difference in
perceptible image quality between the "quality"
setting and the "compromise" setting. In fact, it's
more a matter of "taste" as to which you prefer. As a
result, I would stick with "compromise" if I were you.

3) I plan to get rid of these settings altogether in
the long run. Eventually, I would like Pixory to just
incrementally improve the image quality of thumbnails,
in the background, until it has done the best it can.
