You're right-- I didn't get the invite.

But at this point, it's clear that the problem is not really in
Pixory. Your ISP is doing something weird. There is some reason why
your ISP is deciding to silently eat mail sent from Pixory.

I spoke with my email guru. He said that a very small number of ISPs
use a strange technology called something like "pop-before-smtp
authentication". This mechanism could result in the server silently
eating sent messages. Here is one (you should be able to find many
more) random reference that describes the phenomenon.

Basically, smtp started out as an open relay mechanism. So, before
*real* smtp authentication was standardized, somebody had the bright
idea to couple smtp relay (send) to require previous pop
authentication, because pop always requires authentication. Apparently
some of the major mail clients (like Outlook) support this mechanism,
but it's not something that I have the time or inclination to build
into Pixory.

You should check with customer support for your ISP (they probably
have a website and faq that you could start with). If you can't find
the information your looking for, give them a call and explain the
problem.

A couple of possible workarounds:

1) It is possible that your server does support real smtp
authentication, but you just don't know it. Try turning on the
authentication in Pixory, supply a username and password, and see if
you can get it to work.

2) You can send out invites manually (you won't get nice html invites
with cover photo though). Open the Album Index for the album you want
to generate invite for. Copy the URL for that page-- it is a static
URL that will not change. Mail that URL to your audience. You do not
need to make the album public for this to work. Only the people who
receive the URL will be able to access the album.

Sorry I couldn't be more help, but this problem is beyond my ingenuity
to solve.

In the not-too-distant future, pixory will support a new sharing
mechanism that will allow password protecting albums, so that only
people who have been granted access to an album will be able to view.
This could also solve your problem.

Let me know if you make any new discoveries.
