Alon,

Bugs in the java platform are tracked by the Java "Bug Parade":

http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/

You need to register in order to use the bug database, but it's free
and only takes a couple of minutes.

Here is a link to the bug you are referring to, bug id 4881314:

http://developer.java.sun.com/developer/bugParade/bugs/4881314.html

This is the simplest and cleanest description of the bug I bookmarked.
The submitter (not me) even included a link to a sample photo which
demonstrates the problem in Pixory. However, it's very common that the
same bug ends up in the bug database under several different entries,
each using different terminology that sometimes makes it difficult to
know if these bugs have the same origin.

It's possible that this bug has another entry in the bug database
which includes more "status" information (plans for a fix) from the
java team. I seem to remember, many months back, some discussion among
the Java engineers that they planned to fix this bug by the next major
release (1.5), which has just entered beta.

If I find a more informative bug database entry I'll post it here.

happy holidays,

joe
