Hi Gil,

despite the Mercury homepage info that it supports "95, 98, NT4 or
2000" it does also run on WinXP. I have used it for quite a while 
now on WinXP Home, and if you check newsgroup entries you can see
that I am not the only one.

As for the required work to install and test Mercury it should be
limited to the following for you:

- Download and install (enable "SMTP relay" and SMTP server")
- Enter the server name, user and password of your ordinary SMTP host
into the SMTP relay configuration
- Create one local Mercury user
- Configure Pixory to use the Mercury server (i.e. 127.0.0.1 if you
run Pixory on the same machine), local user, local user password 

That's it. Just to test that Mercury works as intended you can
temporarily set your normal mail clent to use the Mercury SMTP server 
for outgoing mail. Send a test mail to yourself, it should be
delivered by Mercury to your ordinary SMTP server, and then you
should be able to fetch it with your mail clent.

When you see that it works you can also enable all logging
functionality for the SMTP server and the SMTP relay client in
Mercury. Then send an invitation and see what happens. Test to toggle the "POP
before send" in the SMTP relay client and see if it makes any 
difference.

Mercury is free, but you will have to pay for manuals. However, the
on-line help in the program is extensive, and you should be able to 
find any answers you need there for specific settings etc. Note that
Mercury is running in "poll periods", so messages will not be 
delivered immediately. I do not remember the default poll period
settings, but you can set them to whatever you like.

As for the "more trouble than it is worth" I have a clear memory of
an extensive period of communication between you and Joe, where 
Joe made extra releases with more debugging info solely to help you
find your problem. Considering that no one else is having these 
problems I think that Joe has really stretched himself to help you
out, and if you intend to continue discussing your problem in this 
forum I think it is only fair that you take all reasonable effort
to find out what is happening. After all, it is only you who has the 
problem, so no one else (including Joe) can really help you with the
actual debugging...

As for the "how to fix your own invitation link" question you should
do it exactly the same way as when you normally want to send a 
link to anyone. When you are on a page with the link you need, just
right-click the link and "copy shortcut", then paste it into your 
mail. I use it all the time since I don't really like the look of the
built-in invitations (sorry, Joe :-).

The simplest way to do this is to click up any single picture inside
the album you want to invite, and then right-click the "four square" 
symbol at the top of the Pixory window. Then copy and paste. The link
should look something like:
