deleting an album

Sorry for being annoying today. (-:
I thought deleting an album is only to delete it's directory on the harddisk.
I did so, and it vanished from the "album" page, but users couldn't log on
anymore - there was an exception about the .alb file missing in the tomcat
logs.
To enable log-in again, it used the "rebuild index" button (at least in the
3.9 war file it's still enabled :). As expected the sharing info was gone,
but also was the exception, and log-in was possible again.
Q: When i want to delete an album, how do i tell pixory?
