1. I agree, the spammers are annoying.
2. I almost never have a problem getting messages or posting to the group. I
do NOT use the Web interface. That avoids advertisements.
3. Who else gives you free mailing lists? Maybe try the Google setup but I
belong to many lists on Yahoo and am pretty well satisfied. Please think
carefully before you leave them. It is  a really nice thing to have all your
lists form one place, MUCH easier to manage.

If you think you can avoid the problems with another list manager, I doubt
it. I belong to several that are very much of interest to fairly small
groups and they all have the problems.
