One of the many reasons I use a home server

Folks,

I came across an amusing article the other day. In it, an unwitting
consumer discovers why the free online photo sharing services are not
always quite the deal they seem to be. It's easy to forget that all of
the free online services (e.g. Snapfish, Ofoto, Flickr) are in
business to make money, they don't "owe" you anything, and they can
change their terms of service at any time. They can decide to start
charging money in the future for what is now free. Or, if they are
not making enough money, whoever owns the service can pull the plug,
and they can hold your pictures hostage, as happened in the case of
PhotoPoint.

Incidentally, Ofoto also deleted my online albums a couple of months
ago because I hadn't purchased anything from them. I had left them
there as an experiment and now I guess we know the outcome ;)

enjoy
