I can't see any Pixory specific problems in the scenario you describe.
It sounds as though you are just having generic dynu->router->home
server application problems. Personally. I'm using the Linksys wrt45g
with DynDNS (premium account). The combination works without any
problems. The Linksys router allows you to map a specific port to a
specific host. 

Perhaps if you mention which router you are using, someone on this
mailing list who is using that same router can offer some advice.

No, you can just give out the URLs. In fact, for public albums you
don't even have to give out the URLs to individual albums. You can
just give the URL to the "front door" (http://yourhostname:8081) and
all of the public albums will be visible from there.
