But it is cached actually for me. Polipo compiled from
http://www.pps.jussieu.fr/~jch/software/files/polipo/polipo-20080907.tar.gz,
here is some testcase (copied with output):

# kill -USR1 $( pgrep polipo )
# sleep 1
# rm -f ./*
# kill -USR2 $( pgrep polipo )
# ls
