I thought we found the problem?  (See below).  Sorry if this has been
ruled out already, but I've not seen any reply to it.

 Have a look at the properties of the shortcut for Polipo under Startup, for
 some reasons the shortcut key is set to S after each installation, you just
 have to change it to 'None' by clicking on the field and pressing Backspace
 once. Hope it helps.
