caching git requests

Hello,

I'm developing an appliance generator, and I want to use polipo in order 
to cache all the software downloaded. I'm able to cache , all debian 
packages and all the software downloaded with wget.
But I'm having problems when I try to cache git requests. For example 
something like:

git clone http://my repository

Not all the information is cached, less than half of the repository is 
cached.

I want to know if you have any clue that could explain that behaviour.
