1. As Richard mentioned, Polipo will not cache any HTTPS traffic.  Are
   you sure you're using plain HTTP?

2. Polipo writes to disk lazily -- until you stop Polipo, the data
   will not necessarily be written to disk if there's enough RAM.  You
   can force the writing with a USR2 signal sent to Polipo.

3. Under some circumstances, Polipo will write the content compressed
   to disk.

In short, there are many reasons why the cache can be smaller than
expected.  There's no way we can debug your issue without the headers
of a concrete instance that you think is not being cached.
