Nope. Can't be chasing bazillions of IP addresses in spambot networks, 
so iptables is not feasible - that would take too many people to stay on 
top of traffic, and there is only me - I am chief cook and bottle 
washer. Ops is only a tiny fraction of what I do every day.

Maybe the approach you describe would work for a department. For little 
me, a layer 7 filter is needed. That means a reverse proxy.
