Just unusual in that it came through at the top and the bottom... (long long page.)

3.0.7 doesn't catch much of anything there. I don't think the ads on the
front page are all that bad, but if you do want to block them you can
filter them out

---- begin: add to user.filter ---
#################################################################################
#
# block-macwindows-ads: blocks "random image" ads on macwindows.com
#
# The ads are inserted via javascript:
#   document.write(' <a href=\"' +ranlink+ '\" target=\"_blank\">
#                    <img src=\"'+ranimage+'\" border="0"
alt=\"'+rantext+'\"></a> ');
#
FILTER: block-macwindows-ads

s@'\+ranimage\+'@http://config.privoxy.org/send-banner?type=auto@g
s@'\+rantext\+'@Privoxy blocked macwindows ad image@g

------- end --------

----- begin: add to user.action --------
{ +filter{block-macwindows-ads} }
.macwindows.com/($|.*\.html?)

----- end --------

.macwindows.com/ might be safer - I was trying to fix it so that Privoxy
wouldn't waste time filtering .css files. You might also want to add

{ +block-as-image }
send.onenetworkdirect.net/

to your user.action file.

For other pages on that site, the default banners-by-size filter doesn't
block 728x90 banners. (see http://www.iab.net/standards/adunits.asp for a
list of standard ad sizes). I've added this to my default.filter to catch
them

# 728*90
s@<img\s+(?:src\s*=\s*(['"]?)([^>\\\1\s]+)\1)?[^>]*?(width=(['"]?)728\4)[^>]*?(height=(['"]?)90\6)[^>]*?(?=/?>)@\
  <img src="http://config.privoxy.org/send-banner?type=auto" border="0"
title="Killed-$2-by-size" $3 $5@sig

but that requires enabling the banners-by-size filter to block them..

A default 3.0.7 installation does not stop it. That's because
banners-by-size is off in a default installation. You can always turn that
on globally, or just for this site in your user.action file.

I'm sure you are more familiar with the syntax and options but I'll take a
look. Does 3.0.7 catch it? I've not built from cvs in a while and seen
alerts it's coming out.

Thanks for the report! Here's the dilemna: these are obnoxious enough I
think they qualify for blocking no question. But they are using rotating
banners with not an easily discernible pattern. Also, the other images on
the site (like menu buttons), use a similar path. So its hard to come up
with a *simple* blocking scheme. Any suggestions? The Banners-by-size
filter works just fine, but we have disabled filters for the default
installation so I am reluctant to start making exceptions.
