Hi Jason, The difficulty is in permissions for accessing the Privoxy configuration files. On most platforms Privoxy runs as a different user than that used by the interactive user, and therefore not the user the browser runs as. This enhances security through segregation of duties - something that browser plugins cannot offer. On the other hand, Privoxy already has a built-in UI for editing configuration, accessible at config.privoxy.org. One has to one-time edit the config file manually to enable editing via the UI - the config file is self-documenting so it is easy to find the right option.
