PyBlosxom doesn't set a mood variable anywhere.  However, if you set a 
mood in the metadata portion of a blog entry, we'll carry that variable to 
the story template.

This is described loosely in the chapter on Writing Entries in the 
PyBlosxom Manual (I'm saying that because I can't tell if you've read that 
chapter yet):

There's a sample post there that shows an example of setting metadata.
