it might not scale for very large entries, or entries with lots of
versions...but it's definitely worth a shot. i'll compare it to spawning an
svn process and see what makes more sense. thanks!

heh. just experience, and not even pyblosxom-specific experience at that.

assuming we're talking about small to medium blogs, most of them are on sites
like blogspot, livejournal, typepad, etc. that are fully hosted and managed.
technically, i should also include social networking sites ilke myspace,
facebook, friendster, etc., which would swamp the rest in sheer number.

none of those are running pyblosxom - at least, none of any meaningful size.

the remaining blogs are on either shared hosting plans (e.g. dreamhost), or
dedicated hosting plans that give you an entire machine. most of those are
virtual, some are real.

the shared plans are much cheaper, and usually provide more disk and
bandwidth, so i jumped to the conclusion that more people are on shared plans
than dedicated. (granted, there are probably lots of closet servers, on DSL or
cable, too.)
