I would love it if you took whatever ideas from my plugin you
thought would fit in, and maintained the official version.  I've
got less than no time these days, which is why I threw my code
out there.  Just put my name in some sort of "Acknowledgements"
section in the docstring, and I'm more than happy.  :)

One thing I will mention, though, is that I think you'll be better
off by writing a different class that uses the akismet library,
since there's not much chance of getting your modifications rolled
back into the official version, and it will be a lot easier to
merge in changes to the official version if you don't textually
include the sources...
