I recently wrote a new Markdown plugin. It uses the python-markdown
module as opposed to module by Tollef which, as far as I can tell,
predates the Python library and contains a whole MD implementation. It
also fixes a number of other things at the same time.

I'll clean this up and post it to the list soon. Mail me if you want the
potentially more messy (but seems to work) version.
