Oh, funky.  I thought we talked about this in the flavours chapter,
but we don't explicitly state it anywhere.  I'll add some text that
covers the syntax for variables in templates.

This is covered in the section on metadata in the chapter on writing
entries.  I think the text there is fine, but if anyone disagrees I'm
sure we could change it somehow.
