Is there a way to turn off the grouping by date of entries?

My story.html looks something like this:

<h2>$title</h2>
$body
[ Posted on: $mo $da, $yr @ $ti | category: <a
href="$base_url/$absolute_path" title="Category">/$absolute_path</a> |
<a href="$base_url/$file_path.html" title="Permalink">Permalink</a> ]

But my blog looks like this:

Wed, 16 September 2007 <-----
Third Post title

Nowhere in my flavour do I have it inserting the extra date (noted by
<----) at the top of the posts. Is this hard coded, or is there a way
to turn it off?

Thanks
John Taggart
