I think this conversation got a little confusing.  It never occurred to 
me that you could have the charset information in the content_type 
template--I think that's neat regardless of whether it has anything to 
do with your problem or not.

I think the better thing to do is to shut off the AddDefaultCharset in 
your httpd.conf file unless you plan on using the same charset across 
the board.

You're saying you have problems with PyBlosxom, so I think that's a good 
reason to shut it off altogether.
