I don't think any of these are 'different html' flavours are they?  I
think an alternative flavour to look at with a browser would be good.

That's absolutely fine, I have no problems with directness, I was a
little worried that I might be 'complaining' too much so maybe we
actually hit about the right balance.  :-)
