Access to unprocessed file content

I am looking at adding thru-the-web editing support to a PyBlosxom install 
and would like to be able to access the raw, unparsed file content to 
populate a text area. A quick look at the source didn't highlight a way to 
do this, have I missed something or is this not possible?
