Fiddlesticks.  I just created that problem when I took out the filestat
callback.

Let me think about it for a bit.  Possible fixes would be:

  1. reimplementing the filestat callback
  2. moving the filenamemtime functionality into the core

I'll probably opt for the first one unless people can think of something
else.
