pycategories flavour template?

Has anyone ever considered (or perhaps implemented) a pycategories that
uses a flavour template to generate the entries?

That is rather then have the entries be generated in the hard coded 
format
in pycategories, have it use a flavour template in the manner of 
head,foot,
or story to define the format of an entry.  Clear?
