New user introduction

I just joined the list. Following the thread on 'filestat' which discussed the 
type of people using pyblosxom, I thought that I would stop lurking and 
introduce myself.

I have recently setup an internal blogging system for 20 or so researchers (it 
might grow to 100+). I use a gentoo box with a separate pyblosxom setup for 
each user using soft links for all the shared stuff and separate config 
files.

Many of the researchers are not comfortable with Unix and I needed a 
publication approach that would not scare them off. So I use email as the 
publication vector. Each user has a blogging email address. A qmail script 
reads the email and creates the blog entry in the users pyblosxom data 
directory. Many of the users use html capable email clients (like Outlook) so 
the script detects whether the email is in text or html and does the "right" 
thing. 

The missing thing at the moment is deleting mistaken entries. At present the 
user must ask me to log in and manually remove the entry. I am not sure how 
to solve this.

One positive side of this approach is that there is no need for any 
authentication of the blogs. The users do not need to have a 
username/password on the blogging server (users are fed up with managing lots 
of username/passwords). Authentication is done by checking the From address 
of the incoming email.

The bloggs are tied together with a Planet (http://www.planetplanet.org/) and 
users are kept up to date about new posts using a mailinglist fed by 
rss2email (http://www.aaronsw.com/2002/rss2email).

I am using the comments plugin and we have customised the look and feel. 
Otherwise we have not had to hack any of the internals.

One feature that I would like (and may try to hack soon) is hierarchical 
config files. It would be nice to have a central config file 
in /etc/pyblosxom.conf and then override these default settings in users 
config.py. I guess this is only useful for people like me that are running 
many bloggs on one server.

I am part of a team of half a dozen Python programmers with 30+ years of 
Python experience between us.
