response is the result of pinging weblogs.com, reponse1 on the other
hand is the result for blo.gs. Blo.gs is definitely more reliable for
pinging than weblogs.com, which I believe is quite overloaded. You can
see that the response dict actually contains 'message' and 'flerror'
which means that you manage to talk to the server, and the weblogs.com
server replies to you without any protocol errors, but it is in fact
some other possibly internal error.
What I don't like about weblogs.com is that the server is checking your
status before replying to you, jamming up the sockets like nobody's
business (I'm not sure how it runs now though). Anyway, don't worry
about it, you got blo.gs ping, you'll notify others somehow.
I remember pinging weblogs.com, and when that got through, the next few
minutes, bots with SPAM referrers came to my site just to advertise
their sites, and possibly, these bots scans email addresses too, as they
seem to dig deep in the pyblosxom hierarchy. Not healthy at all for a
blosxom type site.
