I don't see it modifying existing files.  I think that's what people
want.  Perhaps we should change the format of .txt files to be more
like email.  Instead of the first line being the subject, and the
second line through end being the body, perhaps we should have the
subject be in the Subject: header, and the body follow the first blank
line following the headers.

That way, plugins can add all the metadata they want, and not stomp on
each other's toes.
