Maybe this can help

Hello I'm the author of the script pyguest.py. (I think it is the only guestbook for pyblosxom)

Hmmm maybe the problem is that the dir that will contain the guestb entries must have the group that is used by your Apache (or other http deamon). In my case I chgrp the dir to have www-data as group. Try that.

If that works I must probably add that to the step by step thingy i did for pyguest.py
