I'll put my oar in here and state that I use this setup exclusively and have 
had no problems, other than my misunderstanding about sessions...which I 
cured by setting max_children (I think) to 1, pending installing the 
postgress session-management routines.
I have around 11 sites, most low-traffic, one medium: all running on Mandrake 
Linux (9.0 to 10.1), Quixote 1
