The 15th International Conference on Principles of Knowledge =
Representation and=20
Reasoning (KR 2016) invites PhD students to apply for the Doctoral =
Consortium=20
program.


1) AIMS AND SCOPE

The Doctoral Consortium (DC) is a student mentoring program that =
introduces=20
students to senior researchers with similar research interests. The aims =
of=20
the consortium are:

- to provide a forum for students to present their current research, and =
receive
  feedback from other students and senior researchers;

- to promote contacts among PhD students working in similar areas;

- to support students with information and advice on academic, research =
and
  industrial careers.
=20
The DC is intended for PhD students who have a specific research =
proposal=20
and some preliminary results, but who have sufficient time prior to =
completing=20
their dissertation to benefit from the consortium experience. Preference =
will=20
be given to students satisfying these criteria, but well-motivated =
applications=20
from students who are at earlier or later stages of their doctoral =
studies will
still be considered.

2) STUDENT SPONSORSHIPS=20

Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, KR will provide =
registration and=20
accommodation for selected students. We expect to be able to provide =
support for=20
all Doctoral Consortium participants that volunteer to help with local =
organization.=20
Additionally, there is dedicated NSF funding to help cover the travel =
costs of=20
Doctoral Consortium participants from US universities.

3) APPLICATION SUBMISSION
=20
Applications must be submitted by email to the following address: =
[email protected]

Each application must contain the following materials:

- Thesis summary. A description of the problem being addressed, your =
motivation for=20
addressing the problem, proposed plan of research, the progress to date =
(what you=20
have already achieved and what remains to be done), and related work. It =
must be=20
four pages maximum in AAAI style =
(http://www.aaai.org/Publications/Author/author.php).
=20
- Curriculum Vitae. A description of your background and relevant =
experience (research,=20
education, employment).
=20
- Letter of recommendation. A letter from your thesis advisor that =
states that he/she=20
supports your participation in the DC.

- Indication of whether you request a sponsored studentship, and if so, =
whether you=20
volunteer to help with local organization during KR, DL, and NMR.

Optionally, you can suggest 3-5 potential mentors with similar research =
interests as you,=20
who could give you good advice on technical aspects of your work, and/or =
your career.
=20
The most preferred way of submission is to combine the thesis summary =
and the letter of
recommendation (and, optionally, the list of suggested mentors) into a =
single PDF document.=20
If you cannot do that, archive the documents into a single zip file.=20

4) IMPORTANT DATES

- 21 December 2015: Deadline for application

- 15 January 2015: Acceptance notification

- 25-29 April 2015: Doctoral consortium
