                   The Tenth International Workshop on=20
                            ONTOLOGY MATCHING
                                   (OM-2015)

October 11th or 12th, 2015, ISWC Workshop Program,=20
                            Bethlehem, PA US
 =20
=20
BRIEF DESCRIPTION AND OBJECTIVES
Ontology matching is a key interoperability enabler for the Semantic =
Web,=20
as well as a useful tactic in some classical data integration tasks=20
dealing with the semantic heterogeneity problem. It takes the ontologies =

as input and determines as output an alignment, that is, a set of=20
correspondences between the semantically related entities of those =
ontologies.=20
These correspondences can be used for various tasks, such as ontology=20
merging, data translation, query answering or navigation on the web of =
data.=20
Thus, matching ontologies enables the knowledge and data expressed=20
in the matched ontologies to interoperate.=20
=20
The workshop has three goals:=20
1.=20
To bring together leaders from academia, industry and user institutions=20
to assess how academic advances are addressing real-world requirements.=20
The workshop will strive to improve academic awareness of industrial=20
and final user needs, and therefore direct research towards those needs. =

Simultaneously, the workshop will serve to inform industry and user=20
representatives about existing research efforts that may meet their=20
requirements. The workshop will also investigate how the ontology=20
matching technology is going to evolve.

2. To conduct an extensive and rigorous evaluation of ontology matching
and instance matching (link discovery) approaches through=20
the OAEI (Ontology Alignment Evaluation Initiative) 2015 campaign.=20
Besides real-world specific matching tasks, involving e.g.,=20
large biomedical ontologies, OAEI-15 will introduce=20
linked data benchmarks. Therefore, the ontology matching=20
evaluation initiative itself will provide a solid ground for discussion=20
of how well the current approaches are meeting business needs.

3. To examine new uses, similarities and differences from database=20
schema matching, which has received decades of attention=20
but is just beginning to transition to mainstream tools.

This year, in sync with the main conference, we encourage submissions=20
specifically devoted to: (i) repeatable evaluations of the approaches =
proposed=20
(not necessarily within OAEI) and (ii) application of ontology and=20
instance matching technology in a specific domain and assessment=20
of its usefulness to the final users.
=20
=20
TOPICS of interest include but are not limited to:=20
    Business and use cases for matching (e.g., big and open data);
    Requirements to matching from specific domains (e.g., energy);
    Application of matching techniques in real-world scenarios (e.g., =
with mobile apps);
    Formal foundations and frameworks for matching;
    Matching and big and/or linked data;
    Instance matching, data interlinking and relations between them;
    Large-scale and efficient matching techniques;
    Matcher selection, combination and tuning;
    User involvement (including both technical and organizational =
aspects);
    Explanations in matching;
    Social and collaborative matching;
    Uncertainty in matching;
    Reasoning with alignments;=20
    Alignment coherence and debugging;
    Alignment management;
    Matching for traditional applications (e.g., information =
integration);
    Matching for emerging applications (e.g., search, web-services).
   =20
