[foaf-dev] OpenPals news

Hello!

Last time I've told you about FOAF base social network infrastructure 
project OpenPals (openpals.net).
We are still working on it :) and here is some news.

We have a lot of different events in October so we decided to summarize 
everything that happened.

- HackDay #9 -
We attended Russian HackDay #9 that took place in St. Petersburg on 
October 23-24.

For two day new mobile frontend was created: http://www.openpals.net/m/.
It's rather simple but we tried jQuery Mobile and created something 
working on it :)

As a result we won a special prize from our local radio station!

- Startup Weekend -
Another event for startups was Startup Weekend on October 29-31.
We made a presentation of our project and have a lot of talks with 
different business experts.

Well... we do not have clear business strategy :) But we started to 
think about promotion questions. And now we see two ways:
1. Cool features
As example we are going to implement contacts recovery by collecting 
data from social networks.
2. Domain specific social networks
OpenPals based small social networks with common user base.

We are open for ideas :)

- New Features -
    1. Mobile version http://www.openpals.net/m/ (will be moved to 
http://m.openpals.net soon)
    2. Search powered by netEstate and PTSW
Creator of foaf-search.net from netEstate Michael Brunnbauer is very 
friendly. I asked him for enhancement and he implemented it in two 
weeks! Thanks to him!
    3. Short links and sharing
    4. Links in accounts table
    5. Autocompletion in services

- Internal changes -
    1. Updated provider library
    2. Huge code refactoring
    3. Fixed a couple of bugs :)

At the end I'm proud to say that we are going to make presentation on 
Google Developer Day in Moscow on November 12!
