Pre disclosure: I'm something of a scruffy pragmatist, but this is my take on something Sandro said last night in a bar, though he might well disagree strongly with what I'm about to say.

The implied relationship here is probably a chain between an online "presence" (Dan's SO page), the entity (Dan), and the entity's homepage (http://danbri.org). So, it's not really conflating the page with Dan, it's just compressing a string of predicates into one relation. Much like foaf:workplaceHomepage.

The page on rel=me kindof says that, but it's not terribly explicit. http://microformats.org/wiki/rel-me
