[foaf-dev] How I do I foaf-ify this?

  Ookaboo is a collection of public domain and creative common 
photographs that are free for both non-commercial and commercial use.  
We've currently got about 480,000 photos in the system of about 265,000 
distinct topics,  and we add about 8,000 a day so it's getting more 
comprehensive all the time.

We've recently rolled out updated RDFa vocabulary that's based primarily 
on FOAF and SIOC terms,  particularly on two sorts of pages:

an important feature is that we distinguish the http page from the 
"thing the page is about" by writing

Although people and places are well-represented,  topic pages can be 
about anything,  say

The most significant piece of FOAF vocabulary that we're using now is 
<foaf:depicts>,  but I'm thinking about,  basically,  trying to publish 
as many FOAF assertions as I possibly can.  For instance,  in the case 
of Katy Perry,  it ought to be possible to extract a lot of foaf-able 
facts such as birthday,  family name,  web page,  stuff like that.

Another area I haven't done much on is on the characterization of 
"sources",  for instance,

The big picture behind Ookaboo is that it's a "union community"...  The 
guy above is a user on wikimedia commons,  but

is on flickr,  and

is an organization.  Longer term,  we're looking at using federated 
login to let users log in with Facebook (and possibly other) 
identifiers,  so I think this is a classic case of where FOAF would be 
effective.  There are even cases where we know of people by name but not 
a URI,  for instance

was taken by "Susana Calvera" and eventually we may wind up coding these 
people as "sources" too.  (With elbow grease and old-fashioned detective 
work,  I've noticed I ~can~ find a URI for about 70% of these people,  
but before I try to 'automate' that task I've got another 5-10 
impossible things to do)
