*Speaking from outside of the FOAF community*, my own preference would also be for a foaf:dateOfBirth property, with a range xsd:date. I would prefer dropping foaf:age altogether as it's a heavy burden on publishers to keep such information up to date (i.e., they simply won't).

The only alternative external property I can find is:

	http://dbpedia.org/ontology/birthDate
