There's a couple of ways of approaching this:

Assuming it is not an entry point into the application, then the
preceding link relation type which led to the resource can infer the
info/state variables. This link relation type should be a URI, and
that URI should expose documentation to that effect (as a web page)
and it could also expose a JSON Schema document.

The other approach is to add a profile link to each of the resources
which points to a URI which works much the same way as the link
relation type above i.e. inferring info/state/semantics.
