this is a perma-discussion where it's unlikely that there's a single 
answer that everybody can agree on. my argument usually is that for an 
internet media type, extensibility and composability is not an unknown 
or unspecified requirement, but something that should be designed 
properly right from the start. XML makes that relatively easy. but yes, 
namespaces are a touchy topic, so when you use them, you're likely to 
get some pushback. i'd say live with that, but others will definitely 
feel differently.

but: even if you go for namespacelessness, a processing model is 
required. what to do with unknown elements/attributes needs to be 
specified. the section on extensibility is a good start, but probably 
should be a bit more thorough (e.g., what to do when to find a standard 
uber element embedded in an extension).
