Enterprise boundaries are the wrong delimeter for ACID transactions. ACID
transactions are only applicable in particular domains of trust irrespective
of what physical enterprise boundaries a particular trust domain might span.

For Web Services I think it is, in the general case, likely that one of more
of the ACID properties will have to be relaxed. This is in sympathy with the
BTP specification, and in sympathy with the Business Activity parts of the
WS-Transaction spec (though I think the WS-Transaction spec is a little off
when it talks about ACID for "short duration" transactions).
