That's an EXTREMELY interesting question, and I'm betting that the
answer is "No", but I have no idea what the mechanism is going to be.  I
am eagerly awaiting the response, because if it IS "no" I think it's
going to be quite revealing.

Wouldn't disconnected operation simply rule out synchronous
interactions, according to Sync Definition #1?
