DESCRIPTION

The growth of e-commerce and e-business has resulted in an increased =
number=20
of the types and forms of information sources and exchange mechanisms in =

electronic marketplaces. In addition to the main types of exchange =
mechanisms=20
including catalogues, auctions and negotiations, the marketplaces often =
offer=20
many variations and combinations of each separately and combined. The=20
participants may access a variety of information sources and choose from =
many=20
different exchange mechanisms; some of which are complex and difficult =
to=20
conduct. Therefore both the communication efficiency in accessing and=20
exchanging the information, and the operational effectiveness in =
supporting and=20
automating decision-making processes are critical considerations in the=20
development and adoption of the marketplace platforms.

The aim of this session is to present the latest developments in the =
negotiation=20
and market platforms. The presentations will involve demonstrations of =
the=20
operational, prototypical or experimental platforms. Participants are =
encouraged=20
to submit a full paper or an extended abstract about the platform, =
together with a=20
brief description of the proposed demonstration. The extended abstract =
should=20
give a short overview of the demonstrated platform, its underlying =
principles and=20
state the significance of the contribution to the field. The full paper =
should=20
present the approach and the platform in more details, preferably =
including a=20
case-study or an example of real-world application. The selection of the =

submissions will be based upon the relevance, originality and =
contributions. Both=20
the extended abstracts and full papers will be published in the =
conference=20
proceedings, and revised papers will be considered for journal =
publication.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

We welcome submissions of papers on and demonstrations of the innovative =

marketplace platforms including, but not limited to, the following =
areas:
- Electronic auctions and markets
- E-negotiation systems and assistants
- Agent-based auction, negotiation and market systems
- Decision support and automation in marketplaces=20
- Integration and standards (e.g. web services, agents)
- Ontology and semantic interoperability=20
- Platforms for specific application domains

SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Submissions involve two parts as follows:
- A full paper or an extended abstract formatted according to the GDN =
conference=20
requirements (see=20

submitted=20
via the GDN=922007 conference submission system at=20
http://gdn2007.concordia.ca/SubmitAbstract.php (abstracts) and=20

- A short description of the demo (max 2 pages), including its content =
and=20
format, a detailed description of the hardware and software =
requirements, and a=20
URL for a currently-active WWW-based demo, video clip or a demo =
storyboard.=20
The demo description should be sent after the paper submission as a PDF=20
attachment via e-mail to [email protected] (In the subject please =
include=20
the Paper ID allocated during the paper submission).

IMPORTANT NOTE

Please note that by default, authors are required to present their =
software live at=20
the session. Other formats of demonstration, such as video clips or =
slide shows=20
may be accepted in exceptional cases. The authors are required to state =
in the=20
demo description the format in which they will be presenting their =
demonstration.=20
